        they're in the guise of a black cat, like they usually are, their third eye closed. the void is weaving in and out of the legs of people along the sidewalk, pauses, then hops up on a low wall to follow someone with their visible eyes. when they spot what distracted them, the void opens their mouth. ❝ hey! holy child! ❞

        they're not glitching for the first time in a while, but that's because they locked themself in a hotel room for a week. it may have warped the wood frame of the bed, but— at least it isn't sentient! the void shifts closer and holds a hand out, an easy smile crossing their face. how long has it been this time?

        there are three children ( a loose term; children don't have four eyes or no eyes and don't giggle static ) playing around them. the void is watching them, well aware that they've all studied actual human children and mimic them well. they murmur something and the children scatter, static giggles remaining even if they don't.

        it's almost immediately clear that they're not something easily contained in their human form. the void is glitching in the smallest of ways: one of their eyes turning completely black or their hair flashing through the entire colour spectrum before going back to inky black. even their voice is dual-toned and echoes, like something from a loudspeaker.
