She’s never met someone whose thoughts are unreachable to her. Her powers may be a burden on her life and brought more pain than anything else, but they’ve also become something of a constant. She’d gotten used to hearing peoples’ thoughts in her head, and it does put her at ease— at least a little— to know that it’s not the Devil whispering in her ear. And even though she’s still learning to control them, she knows it’s not normal for someone’s mind to be immune to her abilities. Hell, she’d even heard the thoughts of the man who tried to kill her at the rest stop bathroom; she can’t turn her powers off even if she wanted to.
So, all of that begs the question: Who— or what— is this new guy?
Magda realizes that she’s staring at him after a moment or two, so she quickly glances down at her lap, avoiding as much eye contact as possible. Not the best first impression, but she’s pretty sure that something’s going on here. // @praeco ♥’d (for magda)!
