When they arrived in his office, those were the first words out of her mouth and he definitely deserved her scorn. Charles only saw her when they were in the cafeteria, and the fact that he didn't realize people were staring until she got upset made him feel worse. There was no excuse, he's supposed to have the capacity and ability to know or at least hear all. They were definitely staring at the two as Charles tried to reach out.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to call attention to us. I just..." miss you. Before today, they hadn't seen each other in a couple of days. It felt more like weeks to him, everything seemed to be moving slowly ever since the second attempt on taking Jean from him. “What do you want me to say?” he’s at a loss, unsure of himself because he cannot read her mind.

Her question came out of nowhere, and his usual demeanor faded into the background as his mind burned through old memories of Anna with him, married to him, instead of with Remy or Logan. Looking over to her finally, he shrugged with a serious expression on his face. Did she have ulterior motives for this question? It was painfully obvious she and the dude with the sunglasses on at night belonged together.

“Everyone is different,” he said seriously, “my coping mechanisms are extremely unhealthy.” His eyebrows shot up and the darkness faded into the back of his mind, “But I’m almost ten thousand percent sure you only have to wait. Mine’s gone for good, but she’s happy at least.”
