Here’s the thing about cancel culture:
Successful celebrities are uncancellable because most people are the type to enjoy whatever they like (makeup, music, movies) without regard to whether someone who participated in making it was propblematic. Additionally, if they planned well they’ve already made their money and diversified it, so even without their main source of income they can still live a pretty great life. You can’t cancel them because you can’t financially ruin them.
And for the people who utterly abuse cancel culture this is infuriating as it takes away their power to abuse others and get them to grovel and beg for forgiveness they won’t even get.
The every day person? They will become homeless when you get them fired from their two jobs. Their child loses their college savings when you get them blacklisted from their industry. Their grandmother gets death threats aimed at them because some asshole doxxed their family member instead of them.
Cancel culture is real and celebrities having the privilege of being able to coast above it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
I know you want to go on ruining people’s lives and will come up with any excuse to rationalize your own behavior, but cancel culture is real and disgusting.
