Nathan was really enjoying his job writing for Ink. They were all so talented, and hearing the songs he wrote being performed on stage, and being brought to life was a feeling he couldn’t compare to anything else. He loved to watch them play. Especially Matthew.. he had such an intoxicating energy when he performed. Whenever he’d look at Nate during a set, with a glint in his eye, it always made his stomach flutter.
Nate and Matt had really started to get on together. They had been texting a lot; Matt always initiated with some kind of question about a song, but would always steer the conversation elsewhere. At first, he would begrudgingly reply. But as time went on, he found himself enjoying their little chats.
Matt was actually kind of funny, and was always so interested in what Nate was up to, and what went on in his head behind the music he wrote. He’d never really had anyone to talk about that stuff with before- it felt nice to finally have someone get him, at least a little.
The more they talked, the more comfortable Nate got around him. His palms would still sweat sometimes, but he generally found it easier and easier to talk to him. Matt would often pop into his office in the middle of the day to ‘talk about music stuff’, which would really just end with them goofing off and making inside jokes about some of their more eccentric coworkers. It made his work days go by incredibly fast. Almost.. too fast.
