My parents are broke because my mom won't just get off her ass and work. I never thought I'd end up being 'the poor kid.' My dad worked to provide for us for almost 30 years, and now he can't even enjoy retirement because my mom is so lazy. And then she yells at me and makes excuses as to why she won't just go earn a living? I'm tired of having the burden of our finances on my shoulders. I want to get a job, but that's almost impossible. I should just slit my wrists instead... -brokeB

I’m sorry you’re going through this right now. No matter what is going on, suicide is not the answer, so please don’t hurt yourself. As long as you are alive, there is hope. As long as you are alive, there is always a chance things can improve, and that chance is worth living for. Life is constantly changing, and you have no idea what life has in store for you! Things might get better next year, next month, or even next week, you never know. So please don’t hurt yourself, because that will ruin your chances of ever seeing things get better.
It’s not fair to you that the burden of the finances are on your shoulders. You’re the child in the family: it’s not your responsibility to support your parents. Could your dad come out of retirement? I know that’s not ideal, but is that an option? Does your dad try to push your mom to get a job as well? Maybe if she hears it from more than one person it will sink in a bit more. What are your mom’s reasons for not working? And why is it almost impossible for you to get a job? Sorry for all of the questions - the more information I have, the better advice I will be able to give you!
