The dark and coldness of the cell had gone from terrifying to welcoming, even homely in a way.
No, it wasn't home, but in some weird way, it was better than any home 11118-7 had ever been in.
She sometimes reminisced about life before the cell, when she was a teen in school with friends, a boyfriend, and a future..
She also thought about her time here, the horrors from when she first arrived, and the present.
She knew there were others here. Most were in her position, except they were defiant, cold, even aggressive..
11118-7 had learned with time that this was her fate. Fighting did nothing but scar her already wounded body. Fighting was the thing that landed her here in the first place..
She knew that some had died due to defiance, and unlucky for 11118-7, she aided in that defiance.
When she first spoke to the blonde-haired girl, she never intended for anything to happen, but she was manipulated by her, and she ended up helping her escape.
Well.. as far as 11118-7 knew, she didn't make it.
The time after that was torturous. She spent her time locked up, and a far too tight shock collar was around her neck 24/7.
Those days were some of the few when she felt scared of this place. The collar became the cults' favorite new toy.
11118-7 became their entertainment.
The collar would go off continuously, each time worse than the last. She would scream, cry, but nothing helped. She soon found herself scratching at her own neck, her long and sharp nails cutting through her skin with ease
She tore at her own throat until they got tired of her, and discarded her.
The memory of her crippled body, the floor becoming a canvas, her blood being the paint.
She could've died, she should have died.
But he..
He saved her.
He cared for her injuries, and was gentle with her as she recovered..
Even after she managed to damage her vocal cords to what seemed beyond repair, he saw her no differently.
She was still his prized possession.
He spent time with her, and even gained a sort of kindness towards her while he changed her.
Even when her body changed drastically, transforming her into a creature no one dared to look at, he remained.
..no one had ever done that for her..
11118-7 grew to admire him, even if he was the reason for her suffering. She felt attached to this man, the one who gave her so much attention, so much praise..
She became thirsty for his words, drinking them while being completely unaware of the poison they actually were.
She could never hate him, not after all he had done for her..
..but there was another man..
He seemed familiar.. but she just couldn't place it..
He also grew close to her, but for a different matter it seemed..
It became clear that he was different from the first, and she didn't trust it..
But he was relentless, and he got through to her, just as he planned..
----------
11118-7 slept soundly, curled up in the corner of the cell. Her floppy ears rested, until they perked up at the sound of footsteps.
Footsteps were normal for her, but these.. they were quiet.. as if they weren't meant to be there..
She awoke, her eyes narrowing as the cell door slowly opened, and of course, he was there.
She didn't know his name, but he was like her, she could smell it on him, the same scent that seemed so nostalgic..
He put a finger up towards his mouth, signaling the need for silence. She only flattened her ears on her head, a low growl emitting from her, a warning.
He slowly went down on one knee, and he spoke to her softly.
"Shit, no.. stay quiet, please.." He whispered. "Look, I know you don't remember, but I swear, you need to trust me.."
11118-7 slowly raised her ears, seemingly interested in his words. Even of she could not reply, her eyes gave him the answers he needed.
He still urged her closer, and so slowly, she found herself slowly going towards him. She stopped just inches from him, and he slowly took a photo put of his pocket.
He unfolded the photo, and she could make out about three figures, but her attention was on only one.
A man, not any older than 30. Dark brown hair with white streaks.. an angry, no, a tired look on his face that was masked with a fake smile..
His eyes were dark as well, and the sight of them only made her shiver.
Those eyes were her mothers. That nasty, horrible woman, one she never thought she would have to see again..
The other two figures were less familiar, the other man looked slightly similar to the first man, but more lively and genuine.
Then the final figure, much shorter than the both men.
A little girl, missing teeth, signaling her youth. Her hair in pigtails, and smiling widely.
That girl..
She knew that girl.
Of course she did. She knew herself.
The question was, why did this man have a picture of her.?
The man seemed to sense her confusion, and he sighed.
"Listen.. I know this is probably not going to get through to you.. but.. that's me.." He points at the lively man. "And that.. that's you, Karyme." He says softly, pointing at the little girl.
His finger wanders over to the other man. "Do you remember him..?" He asks before groaning. "No, of course you don't, she wouldn't have let you.."
He runs a hand through his hair, clearly stressed. "You used to call him dad.. even after he clarified to you that he wasn't.." He says, clearing reminiscing. "Then you started calling him baba, and he just let you be.."
11118-7 blinked, and it was almost like a surge of memories came over her.
That one sentence brought back so much, and she remembered.
It wasn't completely clear, but it was there.
That man.. He was someone to her..
A parent, although not her actual one.
She looked at the man kneeling beside her, her eyes scanning him quickly. She could make out the resemblances between the two easily.
The man looked hopeful, and he kept talking. "Okay, I think its working.." He then took a breath. "Look, don't trust him, everything he's doing is not for the reason you think."
11118-7 knew exactly who he was referring to.
"You know what he did to you, he isn't a good person." He says sternly. "..but I'm here, I have always been, and I swear, I will figure something out to save you, but you need to trust me."
He looks at her for any hint of acceptance, but she's lost in thought.
She remembered something else. A friend she had, she was loud and a bit of a bully, but they were friends nonetheless.
She knew the man too, and she liked him, like, really liked him.
..she didn't think he liked her back..
She still went after him, and he..
..he killed her.
Yes, now she recalls. He killed her friend, like she was nothing.
11118-7 found herseld getting extremely upset. The one she held above anything else suddenly slipped from her grasp, and hatred replaced him.
She only snapped out of it when a hand was placed on her head. Her ears twitched, but she melted into the touch, craving it endlessly.
Yet, the touch meant to be comforting hurt. It ached like it was burning her skin, but she couldn't back away.
The single touch turned into a hug, and she found herself not ever wanting to let go. Why was this happening to her? Was she truly so easily swayed just by a few words?
The man seemed equally as attached, not he soon had to let go, but not without a few last words.
"Act like we never interacted, and keep doing what you've been doing." He said slowly. "I'll get you out of here soon, okay?"
She could only nod as he sighed.
"You'll be okay, Karyme.." He said before leaving as quietly as he arrived, leaving her alone once again.
She slowly crept back to her corner, and she curled in on herself.
This wasn't home anymore, and she was scared, again.
She could only trust his words, and wait it out for now..
