Excuses

It was a special day tomorrow. One that most people made a big deal of. Her 16th birthday. But she was different, she didn’t want anything extravagant. No, all she wanted were her friends. No need for presents or cake, just the comfort of all her friends being around would be enough.

Despite her old best friend becoming more and more disconnected, the girl still wanted her there.

But what happened? When the girl asked if the other was free tomorrow the reply was “Not really, why?”

She had forgotten. Never had this happened before. Her friend used to always be the one who reminded the girl of her own birthday, but now… now it has changed.

She said she was too busy, that she needed to study, that she didn’t have time… no time for the girl.

Why couldn’t the other just admit that she didn’t have time because she was hanging out with another group? It’s obvious, it’s all over the other’s social media.

She doesn’t even feel sorry for not being able. Why…

There’s no need for excuses.
