Taehyung pouts. He crosses his arms over his chest, watching as Yeontan cuddles into your lap. He rolls his eyes at the high-pitched tone you take with his dog. It annoys him even more how Yeontan doesn’t seem to mind it when you do it, but the moment Taehyung takes that tone with him, all hell breaks loose. The little dog would bark and growl. Though, with you, he whimpers and buries his face in your hand.
“I thought we were watching a movie?” He questions, glaring at the TV screen instead.
You gaze up at him from your place on the floor. “I am, Tae.”
He ignores you, sighing heavily through his nose. Lips pursed and brow raised, he pretends to be focused on the movie. You know him well enough to know that those lips of his always have something to say, even when they don’t. Even when pouty, Taehyung is just as loud. He just lets the silence speak for him.
“What’d I do?” You tease. His lack of recognition worries you. “Tae?”
He sighs. “I’m cold,” he mutters, eyes still locked on the screen.
Nodding towards a knitted blanket while petting Yeontan, you reply, “There’s a blanket right beside you.”
“Don’t want it.”
“I can get you the one in your room? You always said-”
“Why don’t you just come up here?”
You pause. His attention remains on the movie but directs all his passive aggression onto you. Your heart quickens, eyes shaking as you try to go over the day’s events. Neither of you have much. You stayed the night and lazed around all day, all upon his request. He seemed find during lunch, even offered to help you cook when the two of you know he really can’t. Did something happen while you took Yeontan for a walk?
Scooping the little dog up, you rise from your place on the floor and cuddle next to Taehyung. He glares down at your lap as you attempt to keep Yeontan still.
“I don’t think he wants to be up here.” Cold, distant, he hisses such simple words like a curse.
“Okay, what’s wrong?”
Taehyung stares at the TV. You reach for the remote and switch it off. He rolls his eyes. “Tae, please talk to me.”
Glaring down at Yeontan, Taehyung huffs and shakes his head. “Since you took that walk, you haven’t looked at me once.”
“What?”
“You’ve been spending all your time with Tannie.”
Is he... seriously jealous of his dog? You look between Taehyung and Yeontan before repeating, “What?”
“Fine,” he dismisses, turning the TV on again. “Just forget it.”
“No, Tae. I’m just confused. I thought you liked that Yeontan and I got along.”
“That was before he stole my girlfriend.”
You curl your lips in to keep from laughing. You can’t believe he’s seriously jealous of Yeontan. You spent all day with him and only an hour with the little puppy. It seems insane and ridiculous but you can tell it’s really bothering him. And that bothers you.
Letting Yeontan go, you watch as he hops back onto the floor and scurries away. Then, you cuddle into Taehyung’s side. He tries to remain unfazed but, the moment you reach up and peck his cheek, that soft smile of his resurfaces.
“Better?”
Taehyung wraps his arm around you and pulls you onto his lap. Cradling you into his chest, he drapes that knitted blanket he rejected only seconds ago over your tangled legs.
