I finished Hamlet and sent a lot of emails today. And the syllabus for my Shakespeare class said I needed a headset/mic that wasn’t just my computer’s mic/speakers, so I reluctantly scoured the web for a decent headset that’s also compatible with my mac. I ended up buying a $25 usb headset off Amazon (distressingly cheap compared to the rest of the headset prices) and it’s set to arrive Sunday.
My one and only foray out of the apartment was to find the Chatham computer lab to print my schedule for Sunday-Tuesday training. I wandered around the building, went all the way out of the complex to check the front by the bus stop, and could not find the entrance. So I asked security, and he said to go around the back, so eventually I took the path that didn’t go up to the porch and there was an unlocked back door that led just to the computer lab. Turns out, printing is free (hooray! shouts the broke college student).
I’m also a little bit peeved because no that I’ve been trained to automatically take my shoes off when I enter the apartment (which, while a good thing to do in an apartment, I still hold is absolutely insane to require when you live in a single room - when there is an entryway, that is where the shoes should go, when there is only one room, it’s too small to block off areas that are in the typical house setup), none of my roommates take off their shoes at the door. They keep their shoes in the room, which is fine, but when I left my shoes in the entryway, one of my roommates suggested I move them or buy a shoe mat. And the broke college student that is me is not about to buy a shoe mat. So now I have to unlearn what I spent an entire very tense last fall being forced into learning to do. *sighs deeply*
