CW: fluff. Nikto finds a wee bumblebee. 🐝
Bumblebee!Reader X Operator!Nikto
Andre Nikto gets a little suicidal every time he’s on leave, whether it be medical or for his mental. He honest to God doesn’t know what to do with all that free time, his therapist suggests he finds something to fill that gap, a hobby, but what would clay modelling or crochet serve a nobody like him? Nikto doesn’t have the patience for these things.
In this world, it is not uncommon to find herbivores and carnivores alike coupled with their human counterpart, they exist amongst us in equal fashion. Hybrids are as much apart of society as humans are.
Then there’s the insect hybrids. Lower class, shunned, looked down on, both in the literal and figurative sense. It is not unusual for them to find work and be productive members of society, it’s just much harder for them being at the bottom of the pyramid hierarchy.
He finds you, something just clicks. Were you a new addition or did he simply suck at acknowledging his fellow operatives?
Nikto believed until this moment that he had no use for a hybrid companion when Sputnik did the trick just fine, what was wrong with the hyena? He found no fault in the animal, truly a precious being, so why does MacTavish the Mutt™ get a pass but not dear old Sputnik? He’ll never work with the 141 again, not with that slobbering sergeant and his stick in the mud lieutenant.
The captain and his other sergeant were fine, Nikto was found to be indifferent to them.
Insect hybrids were viewed much like him, nobodies, didn’t necessarily belong to society, never acknowledged for the great things they’re capable of, ignored even with their achievements.
It infuriated you, little bumblebee, never taken seriously no matter how much you proved yourself, your successes never as sweet as the honey you produced.
Was being a bee all what they saw, what your worth was? Was it perhaps all that you amounted to? No, no, that won’t do, something else bubbled up in your guts and needed to get out.
Now bees don’t necessarily die from their stings, maybe they’ll end up in the infirmary for a few days while a couple of overworked nurses jam an IV into your arm.
This was well worth the risk.
You thrash and kick, translucent wings beat violently against the back of the one that held you, keeping you from lunging at the fuck who uttered something that left a sour taste on your tongue, staining your teeth with an acidic feel.
Uspokoysya! Calm down!
That didn’t help, the gruff, raspy voice didn’t reel you in from the rage that consumed your racing heart, you spewed venom to the one who treated you less than what you deserve.
I’ll fucking kill you! Do not test my capacity for violence, you insolent fool!
Now why did that sound familiar?
A rumble on your back contrasted with the thunderous buzz of your wings, you felt his chest pulse with laughter. The masked man tries again but in a calmer fashion, a thick, muffled russian accent peaked through the mask.
Calm down, or you will get written up.
Of course, you get temporarily suspended for that sudden outburst. Nikto thinks, almost giddily, that he’s finally found someone to fill in that gap in his heart. Someone fiery, unapologetic.
Someone like you.
Sputnik seemed to like the new addition, her approval and whiny yips sealed the deal.
