The stars only show to those who need them. That’s what I think anyway.

There was no stars out tonight. I didn’t like that. It’s 1:44am. I’m in my garden and it’s silent and dark and it’s only me and I can only feel my existence, no one else’s. I feel like the only being in the world and my only job is to watch the smoke I blow go up and disappear. Then I remember that I’m not the only thing here and they all come at me at once. My tonight is someone in the worlds lunch break after a really shit morning that’s run them down and they still have 5 hours to go. It’s someone watching it pissing it down with rain out their bedroom window, they’re happy it’s raining so they can finally nap. It’s someone first hour of being awake when they are still processing dreams. It’s someone walking the dog at sunset. It’s someone smoking a fag in the freezing cold outside a concert. Its someone who doesn’t even know what the time is because they’re busy deconstructing what it means to be human. It’s someone’s favourite time, the numbers just mean something together, we all have those. It’s someone who is sleeping and doesn’t give a fuck about today because they are having a break from life. It’s not just 1:44am. I’m not the only person existing right now. Sometimes I have to remind myself that to keep myself grounded. Guilt myself into being grateful for my day. Or envy what others who spend their moments in any place other than here. It’s not even possible for me to try and list what billions of people are doing or could be doing at 1:44am. It’s forever an infinite list. But I would put my life on betting that a lot of people in the world right now are looking at stars.
