It has been my experience in the past, that when buying cheap rifle scopes, it never really works out really well. I thought maybe this might not be such a hot idea. However after reading several other positive written reviews over on Amazon.com about this scope, I decided to give the Firefield Tactical 10-40x50 Long Range Rifle Scope a chance. After all, it had all the features I was looking for, and it was only $100.00. This scope can be found over on Amazon.com, www.fire-field.com as well as on eBay.com for right around the same price. The package includes: Firefield Tactical 10-40x50 Scope, Mounting Rings, Lens Caps and Lens Cloth.
This rifle scope features over-sized windage and elevation turrets, parallax objective lens adjustment and a red and green illuminated mil-dot reticule with five brightness settings for each color. I was impressed with the illuminated reticules, and did not expect them to be included in a cheap scope.
So far, I have only mounted the scope to my .308 Win. Remington 700 ADL bolt action rifle. I did not use the scope mounting rings that came with this scope as they appeared to be flimsy. I opted to use the scope rings that came with my Remington 700 ADL instead. I have not tried to zero this scope in at the range. I haven't even fired my new Remington 700 ADL for that matter either.
I will be producing a video review of this scope to determine whether it holds zero under the force of the recoil from multiple .308 Win. rounds. I will also be testing whether or not this scope is useful for longer range shots, by shooting from various distances. From what I can tell by just handling the scope, the unit seems solid, but whether it is consistently accurate after being fired remains to be seen.
