The Winged Victory of Samothrace by an unknown artist, ca. 190s BCE
Two Roman legionnaires in the style beginning to be adopted by the time of the 3rd Punic War. They wear the Etrusco-Corinthian helmet and chain-mail. They carry the more rectangular Italian scutum style shield which was replacing the Etrusco-Grecian style, rounder clipeus shield.
