Meet a Wastelander: A.C.D (Advanced Combat Droid) Target Dummy-103A

It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of Clankers.  Must be my love of tinkering.  There always seems to be something to fix or upgrade on a Clanker, so they’re  a great way to kill time when you’ve got nothing better to do.

Now so far a Clankers go, 103A is alright in my book. For a broken down Combat Droid anyways. He’s probably the friendliest killer robot I’ve ever met.  People round here seem to like him, and he’s only malfunctioned once or twice that I know of. Trust me, there’s nothing worse than a wigged out Combat Droid on a killing spree.

103A calls the old General Dynamics Robot Factory home. Normally you can find him around the perimeter pulling guard duty.  If you get a chance, stop by and say hello. He loves meeting new people.  Word of caution though; if you notice 103A starting to act all twitchy it’s probably best to beat feet cuz that means he’s about to malfunction.  Nothing can spoil your day faster than ending up dead cuz you crossed paths with a Clanker unexpectedly set to kill mode.

Launch Party Love

To celebrate 103A going live we held a fantastic launch party in Soho, London a few weeks ago. After securing the exclusive venue Apartment 58, a few free drinks thrown in, a good playlist and a decent sized guest list we were ready to go.

Guests started arriving from 7pm and were greeted with a drinks voucher and directed round to the watch the promo and interviews with the cast and crew. With the drinks flowing and people greeting each other right from the off it promised to be a good night.

At around 9pm the very talented Russell Swallow took to the stage to do a completely unplugged set. With just his powerful voice and his guitar he managed to woo the crowd into silence and his voice filled the venue with ease. Russell sang ‘Paper Aeroplanes’ which is featured in the pilot episode, and added a couple more songs to his set. He proved to be popular as guests headed to chat to him after he had finished and pick up some copies of his CD.

There was a short speech made afterwards, accrediting Jezmae Metcalf with all the hard work and effort she had put in to making 103A, it is quite an achievement to write, produce and star in a show and by starting ‘Montague Street Media’ Jezmae has managed to boost people’s careers from the Actor’s to the Editor’s.

The atmosphere was one of fun and laughter; the guests mingled and chatted about the show creating a buzz that was needed. Everyone seemed excited about watching the pilot episode which was due out the following day.  The PR/Events Coordinator wandered around the venue making sure that everyone had enough to drink and handing out vouchers or ‘buying a round’ as she liked to call it. The photographer, Lizzie Scott, made sure the night was remembered, snapping away and producing some memorable shots.

The night was a huge success, made complete by fantastic guests, live music and a gorgeous venue. Everything wrapped up officially at 12am, although guests carried on partying at a bar around the corner, despite it being a Tuesday.

Montague Street Media would like to thank everyone who came along and made the night, and especially thanks to Russell for entertaining the masses. It was a night to remember and it was brilliant to see people enthused by the show.
