Women protesters block traffic in Antofagasta, Chile on 11 September 1990. Commemorating the anniversary of the coup. Just months after Pinochet surrendered power on 11 March 1990.
Four months after Lindbergh's famous cross-Atlantic flight, 34 miniature airplanes competed in a derby in Central Park, September 11, 1927. These were powered by rubber bands.

11 September. 50 years
When people read about our dictatorship, I think they tend to downplay the dead, forcibly dissapeared (murdered), and tortured numbers. No matter if they're chilean themselves or foreigners.
In 1970, the country's population amounted to 8 million, and this is not counting the number of people who were exiled, and the most recent data tolls up the number of tortured people up to 40.000

You can see the list of documented (dead) victims here
And you can read some of the declassified documents regarding the backup and support of the US here
And to no one's surprise, you can guess which countries provided weapons and taught the DINA
Ad portas of a new election, it's simply inconceivable to have 3 avid supporters of the dictatorship running for president—2 of which have family ties to the crimes committed during said dictatorship.
