The past month (almost a month now) has been quite a crazy period for my family. My dad checked himself into the A&E one day and from then, the family was just shuttling to and fro the hospital/home/office every day for that 5-6 days period when he was warded, and the follow-up visits after discharge.

And just as we thought his platelet readings have normalised enough and that it's within the acceptable range that we had been waiting for, he got warded for an entirely different symptom for another 5 days again - this time in the iso ICU ward. After the initial happy, it's back to square one when he got warded again.

Ever since 19 April, he's been warded twice, had multiple follow-up visits to the doctor where we always try to have me/my mom accompany him. Despite how it sounds, dad looks quite alright - he talks and eats, poops and sleeps quite normally.

I think it's hardest for my mom because she wakes up every single day (yes, weekends included) before the sun even rises just to prepare things in the house and head out for her part-time job. When she returns home later in the morning, she has household chores to settle and the family to take care of. When we fall sick, we get an MC and we get to rest. But when she is sick, she gets no MC and no official rest because chores still need to be done.

The family don't really celebrate nor give gifts during special occasions (birthdays, father/mother's day, etc), other than the fact that we do take the chance to give a well-deserved treat whenever we are out as a fam and the date happens to be near the occasion.

Looking at what's happening now, I think the family probably will not be able to head out tgt to have a good meal until a proper diagnosis is given. Meal times at home are also more healthy nowadays, so we can't quite feast at home either?

Nevertheless, this mother's day, in spite of the current situation, I pray that God's strength be upon my mom as she tirelessly gives to the family daily. 💕
