Boy falls to his death while trying to slip out of home

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 11, 2014:

In a bid to slip out from home, a 17-year-old student fell 14 floors to his death at block of flats in Wangsa Maju today.

Helmi Rohaizat Abdul Halim fell to his death after slipping while trying to jump from a kitchen window to the balcony at his home at Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) Wangsa Sari, Section 1, Wangsa Maju.

The stepfather of the boy notified The Rakyat Post that his funeral service is set to be held tonight.

However, he declined to elaborate further on the matter, explaining that he had no choice but to accept the fate of his stepson’s death.

Wangsa Sari Resident’s Association deputy chairman Mazlan Abdul Latif said the deceased was known as a good student and was a member of the association’s youth wing.

He said residents at the flat had previously requested the authorities to enhance the window grilles on every floor for greater safety, especially for children.

“Hopefully, what has happened serves as a lesson to us and I hope that after this incident the request to improve the grilles will be considered by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL),” Mazlan said.
