It's interesting how social class in Perfect Crown is less of a "see how our male lead, superior in everything from lineage and education to natural talent, chose the commoner female lead no one would bat an eye at, doesn't that show how amazing he is" thing, and more of a "what level of social status - the only quality Huijoo 'lacks' - would benefit the female lead, and if she were to obtain it must be iron-clad, so someone like the Prime Minister whose status is 'weak' (which reflects his true character imo) is useless and incapable of helping with her ambitions" thing

#14shyx #k-drama #perfect crown #korean media ramble #if i had more time i'd unpack what i mean here but i hope the gist of it was delivered #now don't get me wrong i believe the prime minister's feelings and concerns are genuine/have some ground #but i also don't care for him #(you can tell by how i can't remember his name)#bc my guy you had years to act on your feelings but you didn't #and now that lee ahn is sweeping huijoo down the platinum road you're offering status like it's a morsel to a starved dog?#aka she should be satisfied with any status if someone decides to give her the light of day #the way he said it made it clear to me that he doesn't truly understand her #not to mention how he went behind her back to break the engagement #like if he had stopped at the marriage proposal then lee ahn would've just given the silent treatment and folded after one day #but then he said lee ahn should also remove her from the palace #and i was ????#sir???? who are yOU to decide what huijoo wants to do (and she clearly had no intention of backing down)#i mean yes lee ahn was dumb for following through with his advice without informing huijoo of the real reason why #typical kdrama romance miscommunication #but he would've done like. two days of silent treatment and folded the moment he sees huijoo #and who was the one who put the idea in his head? :D #should i also point out how his 'next best idea' after getting rejected was to essentially subject huijoo to further public ridicule #bc getting cast out of the palace = she lost favour with the beloved grand prince of the nation #= public support and engagement with her business declines further = it adds onto the pre-existing gossip of her illegitimate status #= she now has to work even harder than before to reclaim everything she had outside of status #= even the hardest shield can get worn down and 'maybe' she'll settle for someone like the prime minister #okay that's enough rambling in the tags for now i need to get back to working on stuff -_-

(When I first saw this character poster, I thought he gave off Geats Ziit vibes. Turns out, the character's actor is friends with Ryuji Sato (Ziit's actor) irl :D And as terrifyingly violent as Ziit was, he - did make me swoon too haha (the aura and charisma of a live-stage actor is hard to resist 😅))

Technically there's no physical resemblance between Shouma and Nylev as the latter created/picked his own human form, but when I scrolled past this picture super fast I thought I was looking at Nylev, not Shouma :O The casting team did a good job here!

(And Shouma's pulling off this look quite well ^-^ Guess we got a taste of what Shouma would've looked like had he been a 'proper' member of the Stomach family :3)
