16-bitch replied to your post: who decided that beds should hold the purpose of both a place to sleep and a place to fuck??? like why
because missionary is the default (probably)
well, that's a whole 'nother can of unintentional phallic symbols. was missionary always the default sex position? in terms of "modern world history" and the prevailing patriarchal nature of society, sure, that makes sense, but has missionary been the default reaching back to like, the more egalitarian hunter-gatherers? or was the typically larger build of the male homo sapien enough to make missionary the natural route? logistically, missionary is the most efficient way to get a penis in a vagina (or a penis between thighs, sry for being heteronormative tumblr), correct??? I don't fucking know???????? ?????????
and like, I get how having two pieces of furniture is unnecessarily expensive for most people (throughout history as well ofc), but how about the extremely wealthy? why didn't kings have bed chambers and sex chambers or at least two different rectangular objects? wouldn't that be cleaner? or is it like, a shame/preservation of innocence thing where you can't tell if you're fucking or not, because if you had a separate sex receptacle, clearly you are or you're at least hopeful? also I just googled why are beds used for sleep and sex and came up with an article where this doctor claimed that doing things (esp using phones and computers) other than sex or sleep in the bedroom leads to poor sleeping habits, and I quote: "He thinks that if you engage in these and other waking-hour activities over an extended period, in a while you will be linking the bedroom to activating stimuli. Instead of triggering sleep it will be associated with alertness and activation." IS SEX NOT ACTIVATING STIMULI??? WHY DOES SEX GET A PASS??? I'm not mad, I'm just confused. deeply, deeply confused and perturbed.
