Happy birthday to Doro Bertha Olavia Wieck (known as Dorothea Wieck, 3rd of January, 1908, 118)!
Above (my screenshots): Dorothea Wieck as a teacher Elisabeth von Bernburg during Religion lesson in Mädchen in Uniform (1931). She was described as a strict teacher (plus, real one (based on) was strict.)
Photo 1. A "strict" teacher is smiling. The second screenshot is much better; because she's as if going to smile widely (or laugh loudly (happily) even?) in a moment.
During 14+ years since 1st watching of the film (I know when exactly) it's the 1st time I noticed the moment in the screenshot 2. (Why: the film was playing at 0.25 speed to screenshot someting interesting in this scene (the scene had been chosen randomly.))
The gif is thanks to Tumblr option "add gif" (among ones posted by Tumblr-ers and tagged accordingly.) (This addition is for any Internet user who may see this post but who's not a Tumblr user. *wishful thinking*)
1930s Japanese with curling iron shaft
Trendsetters like Castle, Brooks and other artists wore a bob even before the First World War. By the 1920s it became a worldwide fashion hairstyle, achieving its shortest version with the strict "Eton Crop". In the 1930s, there was a return to longer, softer hairstyles, often curled with the help of curling irons that had been developed in the late 19th century.
