During the 1940 presidential campaign, W. C. Fields authored the book, “Fields for President”, with humorous essays in the form of a campaign speech. Dodd, Mead & Company published it in 1940, with illustrations by cartoonist Otto Soglow of “The Little King” fame. In 1971, when Fields was seen as an anti-establishment figure, Dodd & Mead issued a reprint, illustrated with photographs of the author. “His best & only book”....
