What kind of attorney would I need if I am unlawfully detained or kidnapped by ICE and I am an American citizen with accurate documentation?
Well, what stage are you at in this process?
To get out of detention, you would need someone who's barred federally (Linguistic digression: in this instance, "barred" means "passed a state bar and qualified federally, so is thus one of the few people allowed to practice in federal court," not "banned from federal court," and I'm just now realizing how funny it is that that word can mean both things. Linguistic digression over) and willing to file a habeas petition to get you out of custody. It's a civil petition that has criminal and immigration components in this instance, so, like, anyone can do it.
If you have gotten out and you're pissed, get you someone who makes a practice of suing under §1983 in the United States Code, i.e. the law where you can make the government pay you for times when it violates your civil liberties. And literally you'd google 1983 litigation wrongful detention or something like that.
Of course, in theory, you don't need a lawyer and the American government will simply recognize its mistake and release you, which surely hasn't fucked up anything you've got going on :)
