They hadn’t heard the soldier approach, to distracted by grief and tears. But, when They saw him crouch, a broken gaze of interwoven green and blue looked up. His heart ached at the understanding he saw there. An odd sense of comfort, to know that he wasn’t as alone as he felt.
A soft sob, as arms were opened up to him. A simple gesture, that meant so much in that moment. He let himself lean forward, until his head rested against the other man’s chest. Accepting the hug, but his arms refused to open up.
His shoulders shook with quieted sobs, trying to choke down Their sorrowful, silent melody. To not be so overwhelming, with Their aura near the other. Their soldier already offering so much, it was only fair to tone Themselves down. But even then, he curled closer to the other. Hiding his face, letting himself be shielded, this one time.
“Th-Thank you..”
