I really like FortNine content. Yes, it is corporate driven ( it is a parts supplier ), but the narration is not skewed towards ' use our service '. And it's Canadian.
In this one is naming the elephant in the room for the global economy. The US ( and by default Canada and the EU ) are no longer the harbingers of change, merely the consumers, because we are lagging behind the truly largest consumer groups sheer volume. And we have off shored all our manufacturing.
First step to doing the carb, go to the tube. Watch one, feel empowered. Take apart carb, 'clean', reassemble carb. Feeling like I didn't do it right. Watch second tutorial, repeat disassemble, clean, reassemble. Watch third video, rinse, repeat.
Currently cueing up fourth tutorial, and still haven't reinstalled to actually try it, because each time was more involved than the previous.
But honestly, there's a part of me that wishes I wasn't doing this alone/solo. On occasion, my hermit like ways bite me in the ass, even though it is one person job.
no-one asked, but here's a glimpse of seven non-selfies in the 'this is my life' vein...
berries from the last foray to spread my Dad's ashes on Polar Peak (Oct 01), they were very delicious
just another pre-dinner saw session
post surgery treats ( no, I did not take all that to the hospital), that's way too many prunes!

that, that is a plastic connector in the door mechanism of the van that took me 4+ hours to diagnose and 'find'. 1200$ to replace since it is part of a larger assembly that may require deskining the exterior of the door*
'69 Honda S90, listing says 15 years, never tried to run it, has a '65 S65 also. Both just beyond my comfort price for a random purchase. Both look to be in really good nick, cosmetically.
Part of me wants to say, f it, and try for both. Realistic me saying to ' slow that roll '
Four carbs opened, cleaned, re-installed. Feeling zero percent better about myself, because I have a work bench and a kitchen island overrun with tools and some odds and sods.
Also, do not recommend buying Kl 600's, zero parts available. need to learn to up my search game.
Something about getting the parts desk, and the clerk is half the age of the vehicle, and then what follows the whole 'ok boomer' scene.
'Hi, I'm looking for a carb rebuild kit for an '84 KLR 600. Gaskets, diaphragms, o rings, jets and float needle. It's been sitting for a while, bit crusty.'
'Do you want to buy a complete carb?'
This is a frustrating thing to me. The carb can be rebuilt, the whole casting is fine. Yes it will take some work, but it is only about an hour of my time at this point.
'There isn't an OEM kit you'll have to order the parts individually. It's just too old'
Le sigh, time to go to the store. to do the order to wait for the parts. and pay in advance.
bought a bucket list car ( mid 90's Camry Wagon ) for next summer (w)
found a matching car at wrecker for parts (w)
round three of reconditioning the headlight assemblies on the Vibe looks really good (w) but still has cosmetic flaws.
had a great hike in Stagleap park on the way out, and met some great doggos (W)
bought a set of factory rims and winters ( barely used ) for very good price (w)
pulled a selector assembly out at the wrecker for the Vibe, 20$ (w)
looks totally different from one in the Vibe currently (L) and may not work.
confirmed the Vibe drinks oil ( 5 litres/70litres of fuel ), known issue but feeling like (L)
box of stuff for Camry that went to Nelson and back, thinking I might get it going yesterday has gone AWOL, at home. Which is mystifying but generally seems like how my life rolls these days. I was using something out of that box last night on a different project, but no idea where it went. Stuff like this explains why I own so many random tools.
not realizing the snooze timer had been reset to one hour. but out of bed only 6 minutes late. why is the car battery dead? oh, yeah I used the portable pump to air up the dirt bike tires, and forgot to take the car out of accessory. First ride of the season should not be when 20 minutes late for work.
