So here in Serbia we have a bug called ‘smrdljivi martin’, which litteraly translates to 'smelly Martin’ and to this day I didn’t know WHY it was called 'smelly’, because I never smelled anything. Sometimes when I saw one crawling around I’d call somebody and make them kill it, but smell something? No.
So today… things changed. It was 11:20 pm and I just came back from brushing my teeth when I turned on the light in the room I sleep in, and all I hear is a sudden 'bzzzzzzd’ that faded somewhere around the curtains.
I saw it.
A 'smrdljivi martin’.
Gosh, no.
And I had to 'take care of it’ all by myself (since my parents were sleeping in the other room). But how should I kill it? After some compensating I came to the end that it was easier killing it on the floor than on the curtain, and now I was standing there, a paper towel in one hand and a pillow in the other hand, and the pillow came first.
Woooosh.
Bzzd. Zzd.
Paper towel attack.
Insert the sound of an insect’s shell being crushed here. Something like 'crrrsktt’.
And that’s… that’s when I suddenly stopped. Because something was… familiar, I guess, but what?
And then I smelled it. And it smelled like childhood. And I was so confused.
I checked if the bug was dead (it was, thank god) and I closed the towel again an smelled, but it didn’t particulary smell 'bad’. While I was wondering and trying to figure out, what it was, I was heading towards the bathroom to throw it away, and I almost thought I’d never solve the mystery of the smell of 'smrdljivi martin’… but then I stopped to smell it again.
And I recognized the smell.
And I was so confused yet fascinated.
Play Doh.
I want to become a person whom someone longs for
