Photographer Luciano Viti and Jimmy Page, Pistoia, Italy, 1984.
Jimmy in Pistoia, by Luciano Viti.
Q: Jimmy Page at “Pistoia blues”: there’s a photo where you and Jimmy are together. Tell me something about that session.
Luciano: Led Zeppelin was my favorite band. When they were famous I was fifteen and it was an immediate, impetuous passion. I even went to London by train, a 52 hours trip, just to watch their concert. One year later I was at another Led Zeppelin gig in Zurich and I could take some pictures over there. That was my band. Today I think The Beatles was the most talented band, better than the Stones and Zeppelin, but Led Zeppelin deeply touched my inner emotions. In 1984 I went to “Pistoia blues”, where I was the official photographer, but I was quite sure Jimmy Page wouldn’t show up. But he was there, I made a photo session and I knew him. Jimmy Page was a very quiet and friendly guy. Among many guitar heroes, in my opinion, Jimmy Page and Hendrix are the best at playing and writing music.
Jimmy and Rory Gallagher, by Luciano Viti.
Luciano: Rory Gallagher was in Pistoia too, and I remember he was kind and polite in a special way.
