Mysterious Skin is a 2004 coming-of-age drama film written, produced, and directed by Gregg Araki, adapted from Scott Heim's 1995 novel of the same name.
Psychologists have praised Mysterious Skin for its accurate depiction of the long-term effects of child sex abuse.
The film tells the story of two pre-adolescent boys who both experienced sexual abuse as children, and how it affects their lives in different ways into their young adulthood. One boy becomes a reckless, sexually adventurous sex worker (played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt), while the other (Brady Corbet) retreats into a reclusive fantasy of alien abduction.

Mysterious Skin (Oscura inocencia en España, Piel misteriosa en Hispanoamérica) es una película de drama de 2004 dirigida por Gregg Araki, quien escribió el guion basándose en la novela homónima de Scott Heim.
Protagonizada por Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Brady Corbet, Michelle Trachtenberg, Mary Lynn Rajskub y Elisabeth Shue, es la octava película de Araki
Mysterious Skin obtuvo buenas reseñas por parte de los críticos, pero debido a su temática también fue objeto de cierta controversia. Los psicólogos han elogiado Mysterious Skin por su representación precisa de los efectos a largo plazo del abuso sexual infantil.wikipedia
La trama relata la historia de dos preadolescentes que fueron víctimas de abusos sexuales por parte de su entrenador de béisbol, y cómo esto afectó de diferente manera a sus vidas: uno de ellos se convierte en un temerario prostituto masculino, mientras que el otro se aísla en un mundo de fantasía, pues cree haber sido abducido por alienígenas.
