늘 자전거에 대해 노래를 만들어보고 싶었습니다. 모노를 내놓은 지 어느덧 3년이 되어가고, 기약 없는 다음 시리즈의 준비에 스스로도 지쳐 페스타라는 좋은 핑계(!) 로 자전거 송을 만들고 이참에 내놓아보자 결심하게 되었어요 ! 우여곡절 끝에 2-3월에 정신없이 자전거를 타고 여기저기를 쏘다니며 희영이 형의 기타연주 위에 멜로디와 가사를 얹어 완성하게 되었습니다. 정말로 자전거를 타면서 노랫말을 만들었습니다. 얼마나 흥얼거렸는지 기억이 안 날 정도인데요.. 커버는 평소 흠모해오던 문성식 작가님을 만나 직접 부탁드렸습니다. 작가님 평소 드로잉 스타일대로 아주 마음에 드는 아트웍이 나온 것 같아요. 치기 어린 결심에 함께해주신 희영이 형과 문성식 작가님께 감사를 표합니다 ! 저는 자전거를 타는 것이 늘 설레지만, 페달에 두 발을 얹으면 언제나 조금 슬픈 기분이 돼요. 무언가 그리운 것들이 많아서인지.. 이유는 저도 잘 모르겠어요. 아마 면허가 없어 아직 차를 운전해보지 못해 그런지도 모르겠네요. 여튼 제겐 드물게 물리적으로 가장 자유롭다고 느껴지는 시간입니다. 그런, 연습생 때부터 늘 자전거를 타오며 생각했던 잡히지 않는 흐릿한 풍경들을 노래로 옮겨보고 싶었어요. 슬프지만 신나는, 조금 차갑지만 따뜻한 느낌들을요. 이 노래가 여러분의 playlist에 오래도록 남아 여러분의 자전거 송이 되길 바라면서. 작은 선물처럼 들어주시고 받아주신다면 저는 더없이 기쁠 것 같습니다. 나날이 좋은 날입니다. 슬프면 자전거를 타자구요 ! 저도 늘 그럴게요. - 남준

I’ve always wanted to make a song related to bicycles.

It’s somehow already 3 years since mono. was released, and I’ve been fatigued preparing a follow-up series that wasn’t promised. Using FESTA as a good excuse(!) to make the song ‘Bicycle’, I decided to take the opportunity to release it.

At the end of all the ups and downs, for about 2-3 months I mindlessly cycled here and there, and that was how I ended up completing the melody and lyrics to a guitar track from Heeyoungie hyung!* I really came up with the lyrics to the song while cycling. It was to the extent where I can’t remember how much I was humming to myself..

For the cover, I personally met up with artist Sungsic Moon, an artist whom I've long admired, and asked for a favour. The piece ended up in his usual drawing style and I’m so happy with how the artwork turned out. I would like to express my thanks to Heeyoungie hyung* and artist Sungsic Moon for agreeing to work together on this little decision of mine !

Though I’ve always found it exciting to cycle, when I have both my feet on the pedals it always makes me a little sad. Maybe because it seems like I have a lot of things that I'm missing.. I’m not sure what’s the reason either.

I don’t know if it’s because I haven’t had the chance to try driving since I haven’t gotten my license. Anyway, it’s one of the rarer times where I feel the most physically free. With that, I wanted to try capturing all the passing scenery I’ve seen cycling since I was a trainee into a song. Sad but exciting, a little cold but also warm, that's the kind of feeling it gives.

I hope this song will stay on your playlist for a long time, and that it becomes your cycling song. If you’d listen to this and take it as a small gift from me, there’s nothing that would make me happier.

Every day is a good day. If you’re sad, ride your bike ! That’s what I always do.
