kihyun rests in his car in the parking lot, looking up at the building before him. if he had known that he was going to be working in the aomg building, it’s possible he would have rejected the offer. or maybe not. shooting for an upcoming artist in such a popular agency is only a greater boost in his photography career. as much as kihyun loves cooking, photography ends up taking the number one spot in the end. the consideration stems from the fact that it’s a building owned by someone he dislikes and a second encounter is least ideal for his day. kihyun takes a deep breath. his charm and his curse is being a man of his word, so he gathers his smaller equipment from the car (fortunate for him, they provide the larger equipment), and walks towards the entrance of the building. no matter how desperate he wants to leave, he could not leave the artist waiting.
the front desk directs him towards the 6th floor. the elevator door rings and kihyun makes his way through the halls, his eyes shifting around the different rooms, hoping not to see him or someone remotely like him. it’s a grudge that’ll never disappear. the photoshoot room is spacious. the extra hands were finishing up setting up the lights and the backdrop, and they greet him as their eyes meet. “she’ll be here in a bit.” they inform him, and with a nod, kihyun sets his things on the free table. there isn’t a lot that he knows about idols these days, so despite the constant look over his shoulders, he’s pretty excited to meet someone famous- famous-to-be. he sets up his camera and stand in front of the formed set and looks at the door anxiously. kihyun doesn’t know how anything in this situations work, but if he walked in along with the artist, he is sure to walk out at an instant.

Jiyong deemed the tedious ticking of the clock to be one of the most aggravating sounds, but only when he was restlessly waiting for something or someone. In different situations it was some mere background clack, perpetual monotony he could subconsciously block out without paying it much heed. Today it was all his sensitive ears were able to pick up on. Not even the incessant steps and ongoing conversations of the employees echoing down the hallway managed to drown out the confounded reminder of elapsing time his scowling eyes were drilling into, as if that was supposed to help in silencing the unstopping clatter, which was magnifying his nervousness. Rarely did this particular feeling accompany him, specially in work where he usually was more relaxed and at peace than outside of the monumental building. His inner turbulence was worse than during those when he was impatiently fidgeting minutes before facing the journalists. Presently he would’ve decisively chosen a press conference over the apace nearing meeting.
The talks and discussions happening prior to releasing new material labelled with AOMG’s logo were notably his favourite. Nothing was better than closely observing every stage of preparation that would eventually lead to the finalized project, yet his common excitement was remarkably dimmed by hesitance and disquietude deriving from a certain detail. He and Jisoo had been faultlessly succeeding at not poaching on one another’s territory for years he had lost count in, but it also seemed like it was just yesterday when they were prancing around Cheognam until they began drifting apart. The memories were vivid and foggy, his enshroud enthusiasm was clashing with aversion.
Leaning back in his leather chair whilst his absent glare was stuck on the timekeeping tattler, Jiyong endeavor to wrap his mind around tricks fate had pulled on them both. The more he brooded over the ensuing absurd, the more amusing those current circumstances were becoming. He needed to stifle his hysterical laughter whilst he ruminated over the ludicrousness the two of them brought to life together without having to look each other in the eye. For now.
Hearing the knocking on his office door, he leaped up right away, fixed his loosened tie, briefly smoothed his jacket and then placed his hands on the grand desk. “Come in,” the corners of his mouth went upwards to form a vaguely devious smile he soon welcomed his old friend with. And it was taking a lot out of him to sustain the front he had put up. Letting his inward discomfort and dithers show would slaughter his pride. “Have a seat, Jisoo,” nimbly gesturing towards the vacant chair opposite him, his hand almost quivered and his voice was at the verge of cracking and trailing off once he said her name.
