A year before the 4-door Holden Monaro arrived in 1973, the market was tested with the limited edition 253 V8-powered SS model. It sold so quickly that a second batch was produced. It was a no-frills model based on the base Belmont but came with unique styling, rally wheels, standard dual exhaust V8, sports suspension, GTS fender vents and grille, and more.
