mmm it sounds really good compared to the movie!! i mean there were some poc in the film, like christina and the woman who administers tris’ test but other than that they were mostly in the background and thats kind of. but idk man

yeah!! i was happy christina and tori were cast as poc that made me v happy. but yeah like. background characters dont count unfortunately. then again hopefully some of said background characters are eventually going to be put in the main cast because the movie had like most of the characters from the first book in there they just???????Were not named so im like.

yknow what fuck this movie im gonna read the books. they sound a fuckton better than this two hour rape culture celebration i just fuckin sat through

you should. the books have their problems but theyre loads better than the movie from what i can tell.

some good things about the books are that a lot of the characters arent white or dont have to be seen as white because theyre kept ambiguous for the most part. which isnt the best situation but. better than there just being a bunch of blatantly white characters. theres also!! two gay characters!! wow a whole two i know but its something. one of who its never outright said but the other is and hes a black man so thats cool.

idk how tris is in the films. but. in the books she is kind of. overzealous and annoying and she does ridiculous things as main characters tend to do. but shes like. idk. if you read the hunger games shes like everything wrong with katniss done for the most part better.

i really need to watch the movie to make better comparisons but yeah

IT WAS SO FUCKED UP ITHAT PART FUCKED ME UP LIKE. WHY WOULD THAT. BE OK. TO ANYONE. (bc straight guys lol)

and what bothers me even more is that

they leave out the part of when tris is dragged to the chasm by al and those assholes and they molest her and im assuming the whole thing that basically leads to her fear of intimacy and it shows another good example besides tobias of an abused character not forgiving their abusing and hating them violently like that is a good thing to teach and it develops tris well she does feel bad and shit about al but thats also just a really sensitive subject in general

but no. they have to change it to her being afraid of SOMEONE SHE LOVES AND TRUSTS RAPING HER because thats more acceptable obviously GOD
