I love this moment so much I purchased a small lemur key-chain because of it. Wish they’d had more scenes together.

“Would he have buried the notebooks in the garden or thrown them in the lake, as he sometimes threatened to do with the stray cats that stole into his workshop.’ Mo canonically hates cats??
best frame from ZLS Revenge episode 8 easily
So anyway, I’m famously not a super patient person, and I’m not big into pure setup episodes for that reason. This episode was a setup episode. However I actually enjoyed it quite a bit, in the sense that, by way of being a flashback, we kind of already have the payoff. If the fruits are Yuugiri as she appears in the present day, this episode is planting the seeds. Next episode will probs be watering them. Which is actually a pretty unique thing that only really works in ZLS and especially for Yuugiri because of how dramatically times have changed since she died. All those seeds are pretty interesting too - Yuugiri being so down to save Saga and so comfy with modern life as a zombie makes a lot of sense when you remember Meiji!Tatsumi’s clear influence on her and the fact that she seemed pretty damn bored of her life otherwise. Yeah no I was good with this episode.
here’s a vague summary of some of the ds9 cast based off what i’ve absorbed of ds9 tumblr - since i’ve yet to watch the show (as of 27th may 2021, anyway)
Garak: a gay lizard who has apparently committed war crimes.
Julian: an autistic queer icon! should have dated garak, but the writers were cowards.
Jadzia: pansexual worm.
Kira: a lesbian.
Odo: he’s made out of goop, which is cool. but he is a cop, so he has no rights.
Quark: gay capitalist.
Sisko: he’s a good dad and a good cook. he also punched q in the face one time. good for him.
I am in love
That was alright. Above all else it’s just a fun action flick - animation looks super great and the art style is a pretty different yet appreciated change of pace from the usual FMA which gives the movie its own identity. It feels good at being high stakes without necessarily doing the pointlessly over the top shounen movie thing. Its original characters are also decently compelling, and I love seeing a shounen female badass as good as Julia was in this. Do think it was pretty boring at the start though, and somewhat confusing - feels like there are like 5 or 6 different factions at play which wasn’t keeping me on my toes in a good way. It’s also thematically a not very interesting movie, since it basically just condemns anything not said by the Elrics, without actually getting into why they’re right or challenging their morals at all. Also Julia overexplains her character arc at the end but, in the wrong direction? She starts talking about how she was always longing for her parents or whatever and that’s what drove her but now she can earnestly pursue her dreams and it’s like, no? You were definitely earnestly pursuing your dreams before, bub. Idk. Odd note to end on. But yeah overall solid. This is a pretty low 7 - certainly had 6 in my mind for a while as I was watching - but I do think it was fun enough to be worth watching.
Tweet from a Sonic PR person said 3&K on Origins will be widescreen which is a relief. That’s not necessarily confirmation of a Taxmanned up version, nor any comment on the soundtrack, but it’s a good thing either way so, woo.
