I don't like the sound of that - but she's been genuinely helpful so far. Thanks to Vriska, John will finally be able to connect to Jade, and kickstart her Entry.

Speaking of Jade's Entry...

It's clearly imminent, and I've been thinking about her kernel a lot.

It's attracted to dead things, and there are at least six dead things in its vicinity. It's been known to eat dolls, pets, Players and Guardians - and there's no shortage of any of these in Grandpa's mansion. The symbolism is all over the place, and Jade's kernel is spoiled for choice.

Halley is both a pet and a dead thing, and yet he still seems like a less interesting choice than Bec. Dream Jade would be the most interesting sprite from a game mechanics perspective, but Grandpasprite could give us Guardian lore.

Plus, there are two kernel slots, so I also have to think about the implications of various sprite combinations. Would a Halley/Bec fusion act more like a normal dog? What happens when a Jade/Dream Jade fusion goes to sleep?

No matter who ends up in the kernel, they're going to make Jack even more dangerous. A sliver of Bec's power in his hands would be a catastrophe - but there's a more subtle horror to the idea that he might gain Grandpa's meta-knowledge of Sburb - or, Dark Gods forbid, Jade's status as a Player. And then there's Typheus, a god we know nothing about. He could give Jack anything.

Either way, it's about to happen, and I'm looking forward to learning exactly what flavor of crisis we're in for.
