How large of an online "presence" does a writer need? What would you suggest?
These days, it’s pretty much mandatory for new authors to cultivate an online presence. It gets you the maximum amount of exposure and allows you to connect with people faster. I would suggest Tumblr and Twitter for sure. Facebook fan pages are good too. Be as active as you can be. Connect with other writers. Be friendly and open with your fans. Talk about your books and get people excited for when they get published. Post some short stories and snippets to give people a taste of what’s to come. But don’t forget to actually write!
