30 notes:
Before I say anything, I want to put up a large "please don't hit me in the gut with a tractor" sign for including a Deltarune character. We'll have time for that after the show.
1.) Viktor Arcane
I really do like Viktor from Arcane. Inherently, I'm such a big fan of "person who wants change in the world for better or for worse ascends to form beyond humanity," and Viktor is basically that. I like how he's one of the few characters to remain more or less consistent in his character as the show goes on, and how his disability and illness effects/drives him further and further. The yaoi is also pretty good but that doesn't tie very much into it.
2.) Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivrusky IV
they silly
3.) Taski Maiden
i could not explain this one to you. i have no idea why theyve just funneled into my brain and refused to leave. I've been drawing them for months.. this is cause for concern
4.) Allied Mastercomputer
I don't think this is a big surprise for some. I'm a big fan of the idea of having some living, thinking consciousness of machinery and wire, and an even bigger fan of an all-powerful one with nothing but rage. It's a beautiful concept to me. It's wonderful.
5.) Spamton G Spamton
I would like to say that I'm sorry.
I think a lot of my character and speech comes from stuff like Undertale and Deltarune, but I feel like Spamton especially did a lot for me in the role of "what to say to sound like something's gone wrong on an online post from 1998". He's just a fun character, extremely so in the weird route. I think I prefer him back when we were just in Chapter 2 though, even though I love Chapter 3 and 4. I just feel like he's been somewhat reduced since then? It's likely that I'm just holding onto the last traces of pre-Chapter 3 fandom, but I like him anyhow.
(eng/jpn/rus) Starter pack when you discovered you're autistic.
(Little disclaimer: This was made totally based on my own experience. Also, i mainly write about things related to autistic experience, but it's not exclusive to it. It possibly can help ADHD/ADDers, high sensitive people and everyone who have any relation to some autistic traits)
Hi there! If you are reading this, i can assume you recently discovered you're autistic. Well, it can explains a lot of what happened in your life, but sure you're thinking "what's next? Will it change something in my life?". For this i need to explain what is masking.
From Wikipedia: "In psychology and sociology, masking is the process in which an individual camouflages their natural personality or behavior to conform to social pressures, abuse, or harassment". So, basically, it means you're hiding some traits of you and your personality by (in neurodivergent case) mirroring others. It can start in very young age. I can assume you're older than 8, so you can consider as late-diagnosed, so you probably masked a lot. Later (or even now) you can notice that your behaviour changes: you notice how loud, bright, smelly, ect. things can be, you do more repetative movements (it's called stimming, it can be not only physical. Listening a lot of music can consider stimming too, for example), you maybe start to talking about things you like a lot, like, A LOT. It means you are unmasking, maybe some thing are not so noticable for you, that's fine, every autistic experience is individual. I mean, if you already notice those things, i can advise you some things that helped and still helping me.
Let's start with clothes. Sure you know this feeling when you're in some itchy clothes and it's so itchy you want it to pull off immediately. Well, now you know the reason why you felt it! But where you can buy clothes that will NOT give you this feeling? The only brand that never gave me this sensory hell is UNIQLO, plus their clothes are genderless. But if you can't buy their clothes or prefer other brands for reason, just make sure this piece is have a huge percent of cotton, lien, bamboo or any othere sensory safe fabrics.
So, what about other senses? Well, there's a poll in here that shows that most neurodivergent people are mostly sensitive to noises (of course it's not an offical research, it's just a Tumblr poll). You propably should get some noise-cancelling headphones. Also you can get construction headphones! I actually have ones, it's good for going outside, but isn't if you want to lay down because of how big they are. Well, i recommend get both and use them at the same time. Also you may have problems with lights, so get yourself a good glasses if your eyes will be tired. There's nothing i can recommend for smell and taste, well, you probably already have safe food even if you don't recognise it yet, so find foods that are safe for you.
And not so first need things! They can help you in the future, but some isn't nesecary if you don't have needs i have. So, in short:
weighted blanket - good for sleep or when you're feeling anxious. If you can, buy it, but you can make it by yourself.
fidget toys - good for stimming, but some of them are can be loud, so my ultimate recommendation is Tangle. But only you know what's good for you!
AAC app - good if you don't like use your voice much. Currently i use "Card talk" and it's good for communicating, but there's bugs with created cards' audios, it can become too fast or too slow. You can fix it by closing and opening the app again, but it can be a bit annoying.
I hope it can help you with living your autistic life comfortably! Reminder: it's based on my experience, so i'm sure there's somenthing that bother you less and bothers me a lot. Well, i said everything i wanted to, so have a great day!
(Damn, this post is long)
(PS: "Card Talk" is so buggy i need to make new audio for created cards. If you aren't multilingual as me, better find other apps)
(PPS: I just found one that is good for multilinguals, it's "Cboard"! So if you're talking in more than one language, this app is pretty good!)
Tumblr likes to reblogs ratios, I hate you.
When will my fanart reach its intended audience? đ
Southern Maryland Gothic
* Everyone knows about the bay. Everyone talks about the bay. Youâve driven past the bay, and it is never what anyone describes it as.
* Thereâs so much roadkill. Each day, on your way to work, you see a new carcass on the roadside. On your way home, itâs gone.
* Everyone loves old bay. Nobody stops talking about old bay. You once asked why everyone loves old bay so much. They didnât answer. You asked what it was made of, anyway. They just smiled.
* You drive past an old motel, occasionally. Itâs been there as long as you can remember. The sign is mangled and nearly unreadable. You can only make out the declaration of âMotelâ. You have never seen any cars parked there. Every night, the lights on the sign turn on. The lights in the rooms never do.
* When hurricanes approach nearby states, you get the rain. You always get the rain. You try not to think about what comes with it.
* The trees around your house fall one by one when the winds get bad. You have to go out and get rid of them in between storms, lest they trap you on your own property.
* You know the faces of everyone on your street. You donât know their names. They donât have names. You avoid them at all costs.
* Sometimes, you go on walks, but never in spring or summer. The chill bites your skin and turns your cheeks red, but itâs better than encountering what comes out in the summer. Sometimes it arrives early.
* Youâve hiked through the woods beside where the quiet neighborhood road begins to turn into the highway. Within only a few steps, the roar of engines disappears. The leaves are always falling. You shouldnât be there, itâs dangerous there, it watches you there. You keep going back.
* Stray cats occasionally roam onto your property. When they do, you have to quickly make sure your cat is inside. You once found a claw knotted into your catâs fur. Something about it wasnât right.
* Your neighbor has wisteria bushes at the end of their driveway. Each summer, the bushes are swarmed by bees day in and day out. The bees are larger than they should be. You can feel them watching you when you walk past. Nobody seems to notice but you.
* There are houses on your street youâve never seen anyone enter or leave. They arenât old. They look lived in. The lights never turn on. Nobody looks at them. You wonder if theyâre even really there.
* You live on a hill. Your driveway is long and winding. Most days, itâs an annoyance. On Halloween, youâre thankful for it. You need the extra time to decide if the figures approaching your house are children or not.
* Each year, on Halloween, the same child will approach your door. You answer it. Heâs alone. He never ages. His costume never changes. You ask if the figures by the road are his parents. The child says yes. You just smile and give him some candy, and wish him a happy Halloween. The figures by the road arenât human.
* You go to the fair every year. Every year itâs the same. Every year, itâs horrible. You always see the same people. You try to think of a time something about the fair was different. You try to think of a time anything about the fair was different. You tell yourself you arenât going back next year. The next time the fair comes to town, you go. You donât know why.
* There are sometimes as many as five inns and motels on the same street. You never see cars in more than two of them. You know which ones are safe to go in, but youâve never been to one. You hope you never have to. Itâs best not to take your chances.
* You return home from a trip. You see someone in the woods around your house. You go to investigate. It's a girl, wandering around. You ask what she's doing. She tells you that she's always wandered those woods. She seems familiar, but you're certain she's never been on your property before. She asks if you just moved in. You've been there all your life. She says she's never seen you before. You never see the girl again.
* You hear students at your school talking. A charred human corpse was found on another school's property. The teachers hear. You know they do. They don't say anything. The silence unnerves you more than if they had confirmed the discovery.
* Thereâs a little plot of land by the road, empty except for an old car and a small wooden shack. There is a thin row of trees separating it from the road. You can see straight into it. You can see there's nothing there. For some reason, though, you're glad the trees stand between you and whatever it is in there that you can't see.
* Along one of the busier roads, thereâs a house on a little hill. Right next to it is a section of land, a foot below the road or anything around it. The soil on the sunken ground is always freshly tilled. You've never seen anyone in the house or on the property. New seeds have always been planted. Itâs the dead of winter. The seeds in the soil are still ready to grow. Nothing ever grows. Nobody has acknowledged it. Youâve never mentioned the property out loud, and you think itâs better that way.
* you found a bunch of bones from something dead. it has feathers. the skull is clearly canine. the parts don't match. you leave it alone.
* the neighborhood cats are plump and fed. the woman who feeds them says they're not hers. they hiss when she comes by, but let her lay the plate of food. they watch you until you leave. they don't touch the food, but it is soon gone without a trace.
* there's been construction going on to restore an old landmark. they never seem to make progress. the construction workers have been spreading to places they shouldn't be. you wonder if the traffic cones are to protect the workers or the cars passing by.
