2. Things That Make You Happy #30dayswritingchallange
There is one simple answer to that question: GOOD FOOD!!
I am a simple person, good food indeed excites me! I love all kinds of food, starting from traditional food like Gudeg or Nasi Padang, foreign food like Sushi or Spaghetti, and even bizarre fusion food like Burgushi (or Burger Sushi). My upbringing blessed me with a sweet palate that my mother used to cook anything using sugar so my taste buds are more familiar with a sweet taste. I enjoy exploring new food and doing restaurant hopping. It is exciting to find some delicious food and eat it with your friends.
Due to my love for food, I also love cooking. My interest in cooking began when I was eight and my mother had to go overseas for religious pilgrim purposes. She had to go for more than a month so my grandma and I shared the responsibility to feed the family. I started my cooking journey with simple tasks like frying eggs and nuggets, then improved to cooking some instant noodles. My cooking skill was advanced when I started my first job. I was so tight with my first salary that I had to cook to save money. I was learning to make fried rice and sautéed vegetables. In the era of COVID-19, I had the luxury to be working from home and I had the time to make many recipes that I saw on the internet. I shopped for the ingredients online and experimented in my dorm kitchen. I shared my cooking with my friends and I got some positive feedback that made me all over the moon.
For me, cooking is therapeutic, I enjoy cutting veggies, throwing them into the fire, adding some seasonings, testing them, and eating them.
