MOUNTAIN TOP 

The Lord said (to Elijah), "Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by." I Kings 19:11 

The mountain top has always been a place of holy encounters. Moses, Elijah and even Jesus went up to the mountain top to seek God. 

The pulling away. The leaving behind. The intentional seeking. The waiting.

These seem to be essential components for powerful, life-changing appointments with God. 

My mountain home is holy space for me, offering slow days, nature walks, and divine encounters. It's a little sanctuary for the body, soul, mind and spirit where I can seek the Presence of the Lord without distractions. 

And these lyrics... they speak to an innate longing within my soul - a longing for moments when heaven touches earth and the Lord passes by. 

Oh to touch the hem of His garment.

Where is your sacred space to seek and encounter God?

DECLARATION OF PRAISE 

Hallelujah!
 You who serve God, praise God! 
Just to speak his name is praise!
Just to remember God is a blessing— now and tomorrow and always.
 From east to west, from dawn to dusk, keep lifting all your praise to God! Psalm 113:1-3 

I pulled the car over as quick as I could to take in this spectacular view. The sky and air were crystal clear, freshly cleansed by the rain. And the lights below sparkled like an enchanted city. 

Surely it would be an insult to the Creator not to notice and breathe in the moment. So I stepped out into the crisp night air and gazed from east to west as spontaneous praise bubbled up in my spirit. 

And I read these words from the Psalm - 

"Just to speak His name is praise! Just to remember God is a blessing." 

It's in the noticing and giving thanks and praise that we are blessed... and God is blessed too.

NIGHT WATCH 

But each day the LORD pours his unfailing love upon me, and through each night I sing his songs, praying to God who gives me life. Psalm 42:8 

It was a busy day and in the busyness it's easy to forget God is with me every moment. 

Where did I see God today? Did I hear His voice and notice His Presence? 

As I reflect on my day, I look for the God moments that are always hidden in the ordinary of life. God pouring out His unfailing love upon me, whether I'm aware of it or not. What a lovely truth to behold in my heart. 

So before I go to sleep I pause to review and name His faithfulness. I give thanks to the One who pours out blessings over my life. 

Sing my soul! Sing a song of praise to God throughout the night. 

DAILY FAITH DECLARATION: 

On my bed I will remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night. Because you are my help, I will sing in the shadow of your wings. Psalm 63:6-7

GOD'S WHISPERS 

A new week begins and I'm awakened early and tip toe in to my prayer room. There is a long list of things waiting to be done, but I hear the familiar whisper in my spirit... 

"Be still and know that I AM God." 

For about a decade now this call to "Be still" has been the theme verse for my life. It comes from a deep longing in my soul to know the stillness that leads to God in the midst of a busy life. 

And so I set my stillness timer. I need to create space to be alone in God's Presence. To listen. To BE.  

"Lord, what do you want me to know about you today?" 

And I hear - "Look up. Look at Me. Give me your undivided attention." 

The lyrics of a song I haven't thought of in years begins to sing a melody in the quietness of my mind: 

“Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
 Look full in His wonderful face,
 And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
 In the light of His glory and grace.” - Helen Lemmel 1922 

I'm suddenly filled with Light and Grace as the Spirit speaks to my spirit. In the transforming Light of God’s Presence is how I want to walk through my days. 

And I'm reminded... like these lyrics written almost 100 years ago, when we share how God speaks to us, we too become "Light bearers" for the next generation. 

What is God's Word whispering to your spirit today? Share it with someone. It just may be Light for their path. 

DAILY FAITH DECLARATION: 

Your Word is a lamp to guide my feet and a Light for my path. Psalm 119:105
