Day 25 of Spooky season is thirsting for blood but also morally conflicted. Enter HUMANIST VAMPIRE SEEKING CONSENTING SUICIDAL PERSON, a french-language film from writer/director Ariane Louis-Seize, currently on VOD. A young vampire (Sara Montpetit), who's unwilling to kill for her food, faces imminent starvation. Desperate, she seeks a willing victim among a local suicide support group.
I went in expecting a quirky, entertaining affair, but I wasn't prepared for the poignant, darkly charming, near perfect coming-of-age tale that unfolded. In the vein of Zelda Williams' recent LISA FRANKENSTEIN, this is rare picture for my like-minded friends who enjoy morbid, yet suprisingly sweet, tales. A gem wherein not a drop is wasted. I can't recommend it highly enough. It's a $5 rental on prime, and well worth your time & money.
