-misogyny (& cissexism probably): Thanks 2 Cishet Dude writers, nearly all the characters are viewed as male even though cybertronian gender doesn’t exist. they’re just given he pronouns bc white cis don’t know what do with themselves. the only thing to do to fix this now is include girls more girl robots pls Girls-#abuse shit: it’s been played off as a joke mostly everywhere except tfp most times (sometimes by the characters themselves—starscream jst using it to gain the upper hand during a trial in mtmte for instance) but like.
i remember in a g1 the autobots had a good laugh bc starscream fucked up and they were laughing at the thought of him getting beat up by megatron for it, so, m, also *glares so pointedly at fandom full of abuse apologists and general shitheads* -oppression is written so! badly! they had a chance to redeem this in idw, and i mean like, g1 had the super simple autobots (good guys) vs. decepticons (bad guys) concept makes it hard to write Reason And Depth for this but like.
the decepticon cause in the idw comics was literally about overthrowing an oppressive government. megatron and other decepticons who weren’t in it for the actual cause had to ruin it. and so optimus prime (a Fucking cop!!!!) is supposed to be the prime (ha) example of a good guy?? hm??? hey why?this is all like oppressive stuff (def some racism and other stuff i’m missing.. coughs @ drift & windblade..). there was that awful heterosexist comment about knock out being flirty and queer coded bc there was a “glitch in the allspark”. mh.
the queer codedness and antisemitism thats present with like nearly every western media villain ever *looks at starscream. also so much #ableism….. read through an issue of mtmte and count how many times they say “murderous headcase” “psychopath killer” etc etc etc
