Remember Kurt Cobain the person,
not KURT COBAIN
a god
Kids singing like they know what they're singing about Kids
following my words
Screaming, scream
and shouting about the way my eyes look
There's a certain gleam
That is unlike that of any parent's
Oh a gleam they know and love
The kids need not worry when they're with me
Oh drop your bibles kids and gather 'round.
Ahh listen to the sound
And listen to what you've always known
To what you've always been
To what you will always see
Gather 'round for savior #2
🎶 Kurt Cobain made a 50 favorite albums list, on the list was an album released in 1989 by a band called The Frogs titled "It's Only Right and Natural". The song in this video is on that album. The Frogs even made a compilation videotape for Kurt called "Toy Porno" that Nirvana enjoyed & watched often on tour. On April 5th, 1994 Kurt Cobain died. From then on he became a sort of symbol. I see things about Kurt making him out to be Jesus Christ or portraying him as perfect. This does such a disservice to the weird, humble, conflicted, & flawed person he was in life. He had insecurities about his place in the world; he had a very dry sense of humor but also appreciated Ren & Stimpy, Saturday Night Live & The Kids in the Hall; he fearlessly spoke his mind even if it alienated people both because it's what he believed in & as a way to test supposed fans; the small town in which he was raised always made him feel like an outsider; though Kurt's wardrobe has been copied over & over, his choice of clothes came from being poor & trying to add bulk to his perpetually thin frame; Kurt's sister Kim is gay & at one point in his life he seriously questioned his own sexuality; he loved art in all forms and compulsively needed to create, he was self-aware to the point of impairment; & he had a preoccupation with being misunderstood. I'd never claim to know Kurt. I wish. Through the things I discovered about him I know he would HATE being turned into a god. The average kid, growing up not being able to identify with anyone around them might be put off by the image that surrounds Kurt Cobain. It's untouchable. It's too cool. Good thing its not real. Kurt the person is so much more fascinating than Kurt Cobain the god.
