Here I used a combination of materials to create a 3D relief based on my object. The materials I chose were based on the light source of the initial composition sketch and the textures of the object itself. For example, I decided to use cardboard and peel off various segments to represent the main body of the jar to show the change in light source as the jar's form changes. Likewise, I used masking tape, curling it up to represent the relief change, to show the corner, therefore change in light source, on the body of the jar.
During this piece I explored the textures in which these materials provided by using very different materials than the original object. However, some materials I did not change (such as the brown paper emerging from the spout). Although suitable, I feel I could have used a different material to make the overall piece more interesting. Moreover, I didn't properly explore cutting into the materials, instead I just added materials on. This would have been an interesting technique to replace the brown paper spout, so if I did this relief again I would cut into the brown paper and form a 3D effect with this method.
