A Houston holiday. Before there was November 18th, there was June 27 Freestyle. This 35 minute long freestyle is a smorgasbord of Houston cultural references and southern hip hop culture. The laid back, slow paced freestyle with exaggerated southern drawls marked a pivotal day in Houston hip hop. The easy going vibe matches the atmosphere in the city. On this day, you may catch a Houstonian listening to music by our own local talent, past and present, and you may even see a slab line.
