Here’s to 40 years of Star Wars. Wow. To say that Star Wars has been a huge part of my life can only be an understatement. Swipe left to see a very old Throwback Thursday of me as a kid clutching a couple of action figures! So thanks to George Lucas, to @hamillhimself, the late great Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, and so many countless others for the wonderful galaxy far, far away. It’s also my 40th year, so even though I was 4 or 5 before I discovered it, it’s always felt like an integral part of my own existence, a strand of my DNA. I’m starting a New Hope poster, and it seemed appropriate to start with Luke. In fact you may have spotted a portrait of Luke from a few weeks back, but I decided it wasn’t quite hitting the spot, both on its own terms and in the overall poster composition I was planning. So here’s to another 40 years. I’m happy to admit that it remains my dream to illustration something official at some point. I won’t hold my breath, but I’ll keep on keeping on, and channeling my passion for this amazing universe that means so much to so many of us. #starwars #starwarsart #gilbeystarwars #lukeskywalker #markhamill #georgelucas #episodeiv #episode4 #anewhope #starwarsfanart #fanart #portrait #portraiture #portraitartist #digitalart #digitalpainting #digitalillustration #illustration #40yearsofstarwars #starwars40thanniversary #maytheforcebewithyou #maythe4thbewithyou #maythe40thbewithyou #throwbackthursday #tbt
