Question on Alexandria circa roughly 55-47 BC
I'm wanting to come up with a fantasy adventure type series set somewhere that's fairly diverse and I think Alexandria during the days of it's great Library and Lighthouse is a decent choice. My question is just who all was coming through the area in this time period? I know that people from the Roman Empire and various parts of Africa and the Middle East for sure but who else? I read somewhere online that they did trade with India but what about other Asian countries too like China or Mongolia? Furthermore, what were these cultures like at such a time? Were there ninjas yet? Were the ancient Egyptian gods still being worshipped or had Alexander the Great or Caesar gotten rid of them at this point? I'm just trying to get a firm grasp on who all I could include and what they could be like if I did develop an idea for such a show.
