I've come to the conclusion that Gintama's 17th ending is a contradiction in itself and it presents the anime so great. Like, we have this sadface on everyone, but the music is energic and kinda happy tune (them singing "Hey Hey"). That reflects Gintama so perfectly because even if we have this serious business going on there is always going to be humor involved in there. And I think it is beautiful.
