(Maybe this is a bonus random thing but I have found such comfort in mutuals and our strange tumblr language...the connection makes a difference in these times)

1. I went to a state government program to meet with an expert on career opportunities. They also spend a lot of time dealing with other programs that help enhance education and certification of skills to open more opportunities for struggling Vermonters. Now I'll be starting community college classes before the end of the month. Fuuuuck.

2. Some-fucking-how my Twitter got more engagement than almost ever in 2024. Well, more accurately, large accounts were seeing my activity. Anywho...I was blocked by MTG, some bigshot judge (maybe more than 1?), and a few other Maga content creators. Which is hilarious. I'm so silly-proud of whatever I said to cause them discomfort. Also, that's solid proof of my incredible wit ;)

3. 2024's theme was 'all is lost'. I made it through.

4. I started learning to stand up for myself. I accepted that it is my default to take credit / blame in confrontation with people closest to me. I'm taking on a "No more butt monkey" mission now. No more putting my neck on the block just to keep the peace. Someone's comfort is not my burden to spare. Especially those who demand I take on the weight of their problems and fears. We're all afraid. Be nice. I will give back what I get. I will always give a neutral good effort to relationships. I'm refusing to stay on the high road when others won't suffer the hike.

I am so wordy. That's fine.

5. I made plans to make New Year's resolutions. I never have. They're dumb. Really. They're dumb. Why can't we just decide to improve at any point, and celebrate that? I'm giving myself a lot of grace, though. I need to ease into things after a year of being forced into spaces I don't fit.

5a. Technically started in 2024 (I think) but I miiight have found the right psych med. Maybe. Fingers crossed. I feel better sometimes. I'm going to try with this one. I was scared for nothing. That's another thing I'm learning.

5b. I'm working on a signature sign-off. Playing around with initials and emojis. It's not etched in stone yet.

5 random things about my 2024

1. I wrote - and finally worked up the courage to upload - my first smutty scene in my fic. (Wrote a second smutty scene for the latest chapter and that took about six months to complete…mostly because I lost track of where hands and other body parts needed to go 😂).

2. I had a belated 40th birthday celebration in London and getting to watch the Moulin Rouge musical and eat delicious food and be a tourist at the Tower of London was all just so special. Had forgotten how great London is.

3. I watched so many boys kissing boys and girls kissing girls on my screen and it was such a treat to see so much queer rep from different countries (Old Fashion Cupcake remains my favourite BL but I’m still processing the rawness of ITSAY and feeling fuzzy about She Loves to Cook and She Loves to Eat 🥺. For new shows, Love For Love’s Sake kicked off the year with a beautiful existential crisis, Unknown and The On1y One gave a fresh take on the brothers trope, and I’m in full brainrot over FadelStyle in The Heart Killers).

4. I had to deal with a lot of red tape in my personal life but hopefully things will get easier in 2025.

5. I rediscovered poetry and want to be Hollie McNish when I grow up.

I left the country for the first time in ten years. Three times. And every single time was because of Young Royals.

I contacted (and subsequently ghosted) a tattoo artist about my first tattoo. But had no qualms getting five more piercings.

I spread some Marmite love. (And some Marmite hate).

In the spirit of dropping your phone in things, I dropped my phone in a rockpool in Wales 🫠

I knitted my first jumper.

Top 5 jobs Merlin could have done if he wasn't a Kingsman.

1. Computers, honestly I believe he’d have worked with computers in some way.

2. Medical. Based on canon when he was reading MRI results to King, Merlin clearly has a medical background. Probably a doctor.

3. Made a career out of the Army.

4. Uni professor, I think Merlin would be good with maths.

5. Worked for MI6, because in the end, I think Merlin would still end up either an agent or Q.

1. Most people don’t think my kids are mine. And I’m constantly having to verify that “Yes, I did *in fact* give birth to them”. 

2. I left fandoms for almost 10 years. Yes, 10 years. I just didn’t have the time to deal with it. I still read fanfics when I could. (My first stories are horrible ones that shall stay in the void) 

3. I’ve never met my best friend, but I would die for her. She’s awesome and completely supportive. Hopefully, we will be able to met up one day. 

4. I am working on a children’s book that my son has encouraged me to write. 

5.I’m old according to others. But, I don’t look my age so take that.

~ 5 random things ~ The wind is uncommonly strong tonight and I can actually feel the house moving. There are smoke-like waves of powdery snow creeping across the road outside.  I own fourteen Elsa Beskow books. They are some of my most treasured posessions. I uglycry if I so much as think about Robyn’s song from Tom & Jerry: the movie (but only the norwegian version).  I joined facebook in 2009 but it gave me so much anxiety I deactivated my profile after a few days and didn’t reactivate it for over a year. My lucky number has always been 5 and it’s one of many reasons why I have a fondness for 5-pointed stars. I have a tiny star tattoo.
