Welcome to Over 50s Unite. This is a community set up by someone over 50 for the over 50s to discuss the issues we face today - particulary in respect of employment. With the retirement age being raised in many countries and due to economic changes throughout the decades not all of us over 50s are able to retire and go on stereotypical cruises.
This is a blog set up to collate infomation and data on issues that are affecting us as our voice seems to have been lost in the crowds.
We were a generation that has gone through many changes, advocated about climate change and other issues before the internet and social media. We were the generation that had Live Aid and thought we were making steps towards social change.
I’ve searched for websites and forums that cater and relate to issues we face - but all I can find are two extremes - sites trying to sell me incontinate aids or sites for those who have been able to retire early and have the financial means to go on world cruises and trips overseas.
There’s a huge majority that cannot and it’s hard to speak out on Facebook as you reveal your identity. So over 50s - let’s get tumbling.
I’m located in Australia so will be writing from an Australian perspective. I want content writers to share on these platforms (Tumblr, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and You Tube).
