okay, i have a 40 minute bus ride home and i have had some time to chew this and digest it, so without further ado, we are diving into the dynamic of freddie, yoshi, and shohei. for that, we have to take looks at the separate dynamics first:
shohei and yoshi. i have written about them ad infinitum and so has half of the internet already, but for the purpose of this post, i will touch some ground here again. the main benchmarks that are important here remain largely the same: shohei is the only person who can get beneath yoshinobu’s skin, who flusters him and makes him act like a school boy with a crush, while yoshinobu revers shohei and genuinely loves him. the affection between these two is always familiar, playful, and, at times, a lot more out there than you’d expect.
yoshi and freddie. also have written about these two ad nauseam, as one does with a clear hyper fixation. freddie treats yoshinobu with a tenderness that is barely found around anyone else and he is the one who admires yoshinobu’s tenancy, his hard work and resilience. both, shohei and freddie, are very physical and tactile but freddie is much quieter in his affection.
freddie and shohei. now, here is where it becomes interesting. are they necessarily in any way romantic to me? not really, but they are, in other ways, very like-minded, or at least they get… along? like, their characters just get along really well, because they are both prone to be calm and levelheaded while also easily letting loose (the top of cringe mountain). yoshinobu loves them both, which is very sweet of him, and this is where they eventually come together because they would do, like. most things for him
okay, now that we’ve covered that, we move onto the dynamic between the three of them. this is fun because yoshinobu always has to be a brat about everything, he loves to be pampered, he likes fine things and expensive jewelry and designer clothing, and freddie and shohei look like they got dressed in the dark on most days of the week (if it weren’t for their wives, god bless, but obv that doesn’t fit into this post). that said, freddie has the same expensive taste that yoshinobu has, while shohei has more money than any mortal would know what to with unless they are yoshinobu yamamoto, of course. i think they would spoil him rotten but keep him on a relatively short leash; he gets what he wants but doesn’t get away with everything he would like to get away with.
yoshinobu loves getting his way but shohei is absolutely and definitely the one who puts his foot down and says no, mostly because he likes to be in charge. meanwhile, freddie is older than both of them which, i think, does play a role here, too. a lot of deferring of decisions by shohei to freddie, and that long way round creates tension for yoshinobu, not unwanted tension but, just. tension. there needs to be some friction for satisfaction, or whatever they say.
also, praise kink. ohhhhhhhh, they would praise him until the cows come home, until he is flushed from head to toe and squirming, until he rolls his eyes and pushes them away.
some more random little things:
yoshinobu in both their clothing. sometimes he’ll wear one of shohei’s shirts, sometimes he wears one of freddie’s jackets that he really liked. it doesn’t really matter.
they first meet in the club house, then in hotel rooms, and then, probably at yoshinobu’s place. shohei would be the one to have all the fucking kinky shit because he’s a freak like that, make of that what you will.
dugout dynamics. team leader, best player on earth, number one pitcher? mhmmmm. the day they all start together is always a treat (but isn’t it already?)
freddie shows them the american baseball movies he likes. it’s kind of a thing.
yoshinobu is the one to book them dinner dates in upscale restaurants that are so private, you have to sign an nda just to get through the door. they get a lot of talking and navigating done during those dinners.
batting practice at home (-:
