Workin' on mah fitness.
5daysinarow of no caffeine starts today!
5daysinarow
Thinking of all the things I've wanted to do, or start doing, or try, or anything. There are so many of those things. And they all pile up. I want to start running again, I want to start meditating for a while every day, I want to sit and write every day, I want to read this or that, I want to deliberately and intentionally work on a creative project every day... that takes up my day. And thinking that I want to do all these things for a long time. That's... exhausting. And it's impossible.
So Jim Kast-Keat, my boss/mentor at Mars Hill, came up with this great idea. Or, at least I think he came up with it. Either way, I learned it from him.
What if you do these things for only five days? Monday through Friday, you choose one project or activity or whatever it is... and you do that for those five days. Your goal changes from trying to do it every day for the rest of your life, to just five measly days. The end is always in sight, and if you end up not liking that activity, you can quit after Friday. But! If you find that you really enjoy doing it, and you get energy and find life in it, you can keep doing it!
It's a nice idea. And I think I want to start.
I'm tagging this, to hopefully motivate me to actually do it.
